AUDraft

AUdraft is a funny named program that servers many purposes. It is just another way to look at some of the ratings and other numbers from your league. It creates 3 grids, one with player information, another with ratings and another with fielding ratings. Each can be sorted by each field and there is a lot of filtering that can be done.

NOTE: As with all of my Utilities, you MUST  use IE to install (NOT FIREFOX or NETSCAPE). You should have IE set as your browser when using the program for two reasons. One, I think you will need it to get any updates to the software. The other is the HTML may not work correctly in other browsers. You can always switch it back when done using the program.

When you launch the program, it will display a large empty grid, a start button and a text box with your league name in it (if you have used other AU programs).

Select the league, if you need to. It will restart the program after switching leagues.

There are two configurations that can be used. One is the LOAD RETIRED PLAYERS. When you click the start button, it has to load EVERY player in the history of the league, even if the player is retired. Due to the design of the CSV, there is no work around to this. So, a league that is 50-60 years old will take a couple of minutes to load. After each player is loaded, it adds the player to the grid. It DOES NOT add retired players to the grid. If you want to add the retired players to the grid, you can toggle this on.

The other setting is Toggle Player Display. When you click start, it will bring up a status window and show you the status of the load. By default, it will show the players names. They flash by rather quickly, but it mainly serves the purpose of letting you know that the program is doing something. If you have a larger league, you can use this configuration to not display the players names. It will speed up the process a little. If you do not display the players names, it will let you know every 500 players that it is still working.

Once you click the start button and the players are loaded, it will load the following: Players Values, Fielding, it will sort and then it will color. Once it is done coloring, the status window will go away and it will have your grid displayed.

You can click on any field and sort by that field. Click again and it will sort the other way. You can also drag the fields around. So, you can move the age field to the left or right. When you scroll to the RIGHT, the players name will stay on your screen. What you are seeing is the players.csv file. This contains age, team, experience, greed, etc. Some fields are omitted to save space, such as city, nation, etc.

If you click on show values, the display will change and show all of the stats for the players. Offensive value, pitching talent, etc. All can be sorted as before. The button will have changed into a SHOW PLAYERS button now to get back to that display. Same thing with the Show Fielding button. It will display the fielding ratings for all of the players.

There are two additional buttons, HIDE HITTING FIELDS and HIDE PITCHING FIELDS. These two buttons are used when you are displaying the whole league, but just want to see the hitting stats or just the pitching stats. They are toggles that can be turned on or off.

You will also see there is a pull down in the middle of the screen with your teams in there. You can select any team and it will display JUST that team. How long this takes is dependent on how many players you have in your league.

The DRAFT PICKS ONLY will just display players that are eligible for the draft.
The FREE AGENTS ONLY will just display players that are current free agents.

There is also a collection of radio buttons for each position, plus the IF and OF. This can be used to just display all of the players that have a certain position as their MAIN position.

You will also notice that the grids are color coded. This makes it real easy to see the ratings of the players at a glance. Green is the best, then light green, yellow, pink and red. Zero ratings usually are left white.

The color ratings are hard coded, but I may add the ability to set your own ranges for the colors one day.

The HTML button is mainly used for the online leagues, but you can click it and have some nice HTML files to look at.

First, the location of the HTML files will be:

C:\AU2006\AUDraft\LEAGUE NAME

Inside this folder will be many files. Currently there are three files for each team. Plus there is a team_index.htm file that displays a list of the teams with links to open them up. When you click on a team, there will be a link back to the team index, plus a link to the other HTML files for that team.

There is also a sorttable.js file. This is a javascript file that is used to be able to sort the tables.

You can upload the entire contents to the root of your online league. Later on, the links will added to the player's names so that they can view the player's HTML page from this page. That is why it should be in the root. (Where the INDEX.HTM file is located)

You can also customize the team index file. Inside the AUDRAFT folder, you will see the teamindex file. (If you delete this file, it will download it again automatically). You can add a logo, change colors, add styles, whatever you want. You can even change the layout.

(If you come up with a neat looking one, please send me a copy!)

VERY IMPORTANT!! Do NOT change the T1-, T2-, etc. or the links of L1-, L2-, etc. This is the text that I replace with the team links.

As of now, the program supports 100 teams. If you have more than 100 teams in your league (including minor leagues) and want to use the program for the HTML, please let me know and I will change the limitation.

Feature futures!
