Larry Anderson's Guide to a Historical Replay

The goal of this is to teach you how to set up a fictional league that starts in 1901, simulates the way they played ball in 1901 and then as the years move on, copy the historical settings. The league will expand just like MLB did in the same years. Teams move from division to division, new teams come and go, just like the way it happened in MLB. Of course, the results are not going to be even close as far as the teams are concerned. The Yankees may not dominate at all during the real years that they did dominate in the MLB, but your league totals will be close to the way it was in that year.

There are MANY different options that you can change here, but I am pretty much going with the default settings for leagues. I do change some personal preferences, like the ratings system, scouts off, I don't use stars, etc. I also have the draft in June, which means that a rookie brought up can play the same year that he was drafted, but will not get a full season in. Of course, I can change this at any time.

The first step is to use the Wizard to create a new historical league. Locate your database and select 1901 as the starting year. Your screen should look like shown below. You can select a different year, if you wanted to skip over the dead ball era, you could start in 1950 or whatever year you want.

The next screen is where we will select the minor leagues. I am selecting just to have Triple A this time. You can go with as many minor leagues as you desire or as many as your computer speed allows you to. Since we are dealing with Fictional players, we do not really want to use ghost players. We want full minor leagues.
